How to Build a Solid Team for Your Agency Business

· 3 min read

This is how you can build a solid team for your agency business.

In yesterday’s post, I explained how one could get clients for a services business. I hope you guys found my suggestions and will implement some of them to find clients. Moving forward, the next biggest challenge agency owners find is building a strong team.

If you are running a services business and haven’t been able to build a team, basically, you are still a freelancer. So, in today’s post, I will write about how you can build your team. So let’s start.

Before I give some suggestions, I would like to share my experience in team building. I started my first tech media business TechYorker back in 2018, and since then, I have been actively learning the art of building a solid team.

In the initial days, I built a team with my two friends. Later, I also hired a bunch of writers from Twitter. Next, I also used freelance platforms like Fiverr to hire freelancers. But frankly speaking, I couldn’t crack the code of building a team until early 2022.

I was using Twitter to meet new people, but I wasn’t much active on LinkedIn. I created my LinkedIn account back in 2014 but never used it regularly. In early 2022, I started using LinkedIn, and I was amazed by its potential. I always regret why I got active on Linkedin so late.

Last year, I built teams for two businesses: My Services business and Yorker Media. For both businesses, I build my entire team using LinkedIn. Now I have stopped working on my agency business and only working on Yorker Media.

Today, I have a team of 20+ highly experienced writers. Even today, all my current team members are from LinkedIn connections. You may think I must have taken LinkedIn premium, but what if I say I built my team with a free account?

You must have understood why I wanted to share my experience with team building. It is basically to convey that if you want to build a team for your services business, there is nothing better than LinkedIn.

Start making connections with professionals within your niche. If your agency offers video editing services, make connections with top video editors in the industry.

Suppose your industry offers WordPress development services; make connections with WordPress developers on LinkedIn and so on. Not just make connections but have a genuine conversation with them.

Later when you are looking to expand your team, reach out to some of your connections and ask them if they would like to join you. It is highly possible that many of them will get agreed. One thing to remember here is you may not be able to build a good team just by reaching a few people.

Keep reaching more professionals every day. If you practice it for a few months and you will soon be able to add some very talented people to your team. So, basically, you can use LinkedIn to build your team.

That’s all I want to share in this post.

Thanks for reading. Have a great day!
