How to Find Direct Clients for Content Writing on Twitter
This is how you can find direct clients for content writing on Twitter.
In yesterday's post I talked about how you can use LinkedIn to find direct clients. I highly recommend everyone to leverage LinkedIn but it is not the only social media platform for getting clients. I have recommended other social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. In today's post, I will write how you can use Twitter to get clients for content writing.
Twitter is primarily a micro blogging platform but you can use it to make connections and get work. As you already have a Twitter account, update your bio as a content writer including some information about the websites you have already worked with. When your profile is ready then comes the next step.
As I have suggested in the past you should have already decided your niche and created a list of the top websites within your niche. The website founders, co-founders, HR persons of most prominent websites are already on Twitter. You can look for them on Twitter and start following them.
As you already have your Bio updated when you follow them they will check your profile and come to know that you are a content writer. If they are in need of a writer they may reach out themselves asking if you are open to take a new role. It has happened several times with me on Twitter that I followed a website owner and they reached out asking if I am open to work with them.
After a few days you can reach out to them yourself. Most of them have their direct messages open. But you will find some accounts with their Twitter dms closed. In that situation you can reply to their tweets and gently ask if you want to have a conversation with them. Most of them will agree.
You can have a first conversation with them talking about what you think about their website and how you benefited from being a writer in the same niche. Keep the first conversation casual and don't go all the way asking for a role. I personally don't like this approach and it can make the conversation awkward if the other person is not hiring.
Gradually, you can ask if they are looking for a content writer. If they say yes then you are ready to pitch that you can fulfil their needs. As you have built some level of connection they may give you a chance. When you get the opportunity, do your best work and hopefully you should get a long term work.
I have personally used Twitter to get many clients for content writing. Not just that, I know a bunch of Tech journalists whose entire writing career is just because of Twitter and all their job offers came from Twitter dms. So, if you are not using Twitter yet then you are missing out on an opportunity. Give it a try and you should get positive results.
That's all I wanted to share in this post. I hope you learned something valuable. In tomorrow’s post I will write about how you can use Facebook to get clients for content writing. So stay tuned!
Thanks for reading. Have a great day!
