Finding Six Freelance Writing Clients in Four Months
In yesterday’s post, I shared how I purchased an expired domain that has a manual penalty from Google. All the remaining domains were good, and I had already started projects on them.
With as many as four ongoing projects, the cost of running the business got increased. As most of the projects were new, the revenues of my business were not enough to manage the expenses.
I stopped working as a freelancer back in November due to a burnout situation and a family emergency. In March 2022, I decided to resume freelancing. This time, I picked just one service Tech writing. I started looking for clients.
In March, I started sending my cover letter to most Indian and International Tech publications. Within a few days, I started receiving replies from them. In the last week of March, I gave multiple job interviews for the freelance Tech writer position.
Thankfully, I got selected for most of them. Going through all the options, I went with Fossbytes. I wrote my first article at Fossbytes on 4 April.

Before joining Fossbytes, I had also given an interview for MakeTechEasier. Later, when I started writing at Fossbytes, they asked me to pitch some topics. However, I wrote only three articles for MakeTechEasier as things went as expected.

While working on these sites, I continued applying. I got an opportunity to write in the data recovery niche for Stellar Data Recovery. I wrote around ten articles for them, including a 5000-word guide on SD Card Recovery.

Although, I was primarily looking for direct clients initially. Later, I also tried Upwork to see if it worked this time. I sent my proposal to some job postings for the Tech writer position. I got a reply from a client within the Tech niche. Soon, I started working with him and wrote around 25 evergreen articles.
Similarly, I found one more client on Upwork whose requirement was to write around Apple Mac computers. I accepted the Gig and wrote around 15 articles. As this was a Ghostwriting job, I didn’t have an author page.
Later in July, I also got an opportunity to write for a client in the VPN niche and wrote a couple of articles for them. So starting in April, I found as many as six clients in just four months. I used to complete all my freelance work while also growing my business. My primary reason for freelancing was to arrange funds for my business. And I was successfully able to do that. I kept working as a freelancer until October 2022.
So this was how I worked as a freelancer in 2022. That’s it for this post. In tomorrow’s post, I will write about how I utilized the income from freelancing and my business revenue to grow Yorker Media.
Also, I have recently started my YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/DcrovJnhKgY.
Thanks!
