This is How I Progressed in Freelancing

In my yesterday’s post, I shared how I grew MobilesTalk.Net to 130k page views after acquiring it. At the end of the post, I said I started freelancing again to have some surplus funds for my business. So, in today’s post I will share how I progressed in freelancing.

In March 2021, I moved to the Patna, the capital city of my state Bihar. It was the first time after starting my online career I moved out from my village to a city. After reaching there, I found that the living expenses is much higher there. I have to pay the rent of my flat, electricity bill, grocery and so many other types of expenses. I was making a decent amount of revenue from my business. But combined all the projects, I had a team of 6-7 people. The revenue was enough to pay my team but now I also had my personal expenses due to living in a city. So, I decided to work actively as a freelancer to have some extra money which I could use for my personal needs and also invest my business wherever needed.

As I had a terrible experience working on Fiverr in 2020 so this time I was primarily looking for direct clients. At that time I wasn’t that active on LinkedIn but I was regularly using Twitter to get latest Tech updates. I tried reaching out to a couple of Tech bloggers in my industry.

Some of them were interested to offer a writing job. After having discussions with some of them, I finally got a offer from Abhishek Bhatnagar sir from GadgetsToUse. I had watched Abhishek sir videos on his GadgetsToUse channel since starting my YouTube career back in 2017 so, I was excited to work with him. Abhishek sir was starting a new project called BrowserToUse and asked me to write articles around Browsers. I got agreed and started writing on 4 May 2021. I was writing one article every day no matter what. But as I had so many years of experience of writing content, It was hardly taking me more than a couple of hours to write one article.

So I started looking for some more work, but I wasn’t getting any other opportunities. Then I remember the third Fiverr account I had created in November 2020. I logged in the account to see If I could do anything there. I again took a sheet of paper and noted down all the services that I could offer. I came with three services this time: WordPress, Tech Writing, Sponsored Post on My Tech Site. I created three great quality gigs for these three services in next three hours. After creating the gig, I started waiting for orders and I remember I received a message from a buyer on my WordPress gig the very next day of creating my Gig. After understanding his requirements I quoted $100 for a 4-5 page website. He bargained a bit and the order was confirmed for $80.

Now I have work for content writing and WordPress development. I started working long hours to get my freelance work completed on time and also managing my business.

That’s it for this post. In tomorrow’s post, I will share how I continued my freelance journey working with both direct clients and on Fiverr. So please stay tuned. Thanks for reading this one. Have a nice day!
