How I Purchased Five More Expired Domains
In yesterday's post, I shared how I purchased my first expired domain in the tech niche. In the end, after seeing the initial success, I purchased five more such domains. In today's post, I will share how I purchased the remaining domains.
As I wrote yesterday, I purchased my first domain from Dan.com. I first saw the domain on Domain Coasters, and when I visited the URL, it was hosted on Dan.com. So, I placed my bid on it and, after several negotiations, finally purchased it for $725.
Although I got the domain, I soon realized it wasn't easy to find more such domains. I started researching the best places to buy expired domains and found GoDaddy Auction to be the best place for it. I first purchased the Auction subscription, which cost me around $5.
Once I had the subscription, I started looking for expired domains. Several good domain names were there, but most were out of my budget.
I kept researching, and in a few days, I came across a domain name ifsc-code.com. The name was good for building an IFSC Code Finder website.
The age of the domain was also 11+ years. It had a good DA, DR, and backlinks profile. So, I thought to build an IFSC-Code Finder and make a passive source of income. I started bidding for the domain name and purchased it for $100. Later, I bought a pre-built IFSC Code Finder script, and the site went live. It is still live and brings about some 10-15k page views.
Although I purchased the IFSC Code domain, I was mainly looking for Tech related domains. So I continued my research. In the next few days, I found a 20-year-old tech domain name with 40+ DA, DR, and a great backlinks profile. I started bidding on it, and in the end, I won the final bid of $870.
I continued my research and soon found a new domain which was a Windows Phone Blog in the past. The domain authority was 40+ again, and the backlink profile was excellent. You can get an idea that it has links from Windows.com and all the popular Windows blogs. So without waiting, I started bidding and ultimately won the auction at $810.
I had already purchased four domains and should have stopped, but I continued looking for more. It was a mistake on my side because I already had enough domains for the next few years.
Again, I found a good domain name in the Linux niche. I bid for it and won the bid for just $235. I thought it was a steal deal, but I made a mistake buying it. When I added that domain to Search Console, I found that the domain was penalized by Google.
After it, I bid on a domain for just $35, thinking people would surpass it and I won't buy it. But later, I found that no one bid for it further, so I had to buy it.
I got habituated to browsing GoDaddy Auction and kept bidding on domains that were not good. All of this led to getting my GoDaddy Auction banned.
In tomorrow's post, I will share the strategies to buy expired domains and the mistakes to avoid. So, if you are also interested in buying expired domains, please stay tuned. Thanks!
