Writing a Cover Letter That Lands High Paying Direct Clients
This is how you should write your cover letter as a content writer to land high paying direct clients.
In my last several posts, I wrote how you can find direct clients for content writing. I explained ways like reaching website owners through their hiring/contact page or social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter or Facebook. No matter which of these methods you try to reach clients you will need to write a solid cover letter.
Most writers struggle to write a cover letter that convinces the clients so they could respond to them. So, in today’s post I will be writing about how you should write a cover letter as a content writer. Let’s start.
Greet the Receiver: Start your cover letter by greeting the receiver. Do some research about who is most likely to receive that email or message. If you know the name of the website owner, include it in the greetings to give it a personal touch.
Example:
Hi (Name of website owner),
I hope you are doing great.
Introduce yourself: Next introduce yourself by including only the information that is relevant for your services. Come straight to the point instead of using a lot of fluff.
Example:
I am Ratnesh Kumar, a freelance Tech writer from India.
Write your Specialization: Next, write about your specialization as a writer. If you are a Tech writer, include the verticals you cover as a writer.
Example:
I specialize in writing long form feature content around Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, Internet.
Talk about your Past experience: Now you can write your entire content writing experience like a story. Start with the very initial days including the very first work you did as a content writer. Then went on to write everything you did there after till today.
This section of your cover letter should reflect your journey so the reader could get a brief idea of how you progressed in your career. As you talk about a specific experience, include links below it to prove your claims.
If you write I have worked for this publication in the past make sure you include a couple of links of your best work or include your author page.
Conclude your Cover letter: Lastly conclude your cover letter summing up everything you have talked about above. Most importantly, end your cover letter with a call to action. Something like: Let’s discuss it in detail, Get started with a trial article or a similar action. It will increase the chances of you getting the reply.
This is how I personally write a cover letter when approaching a high paying client. I have used it to land clients paying me as high as $0.10 cents per word.
You can use these suggestions to write a cover letter tailor made for a client. Give these suggestions a try and you should get some good clients for yourself.
That’s it in this post. I hope all of you will find it useful.
Thanks for reading. Have a great day!
