Finding Direct Clients Through Website Hiring and Contact Pages

· 3 min read

This is how you can find direct clients for content writing from the website's hiring page or contact us page.

In yesterday’s post I wrote about how you can find direct clients for content writing. I discussed two ways for it: 1. Website Hiring/Contact Page 2. Social Media Platform. Today, I will dig deeper into finding clients from website hiring or contact pages. So stay tuned.

As I have suggested so far in my posts, you should have selected a niche for your write ups, you are consuming content in that niche and building a solid portfolio. If you have followed all of those now you are all set to reach website owners.

First of all make a list of all the top websites in your niche. If you are in the Tech niche, create a list of all the top tech websites you personally follow to grasp information. If you don’t know how to find sites in your niche you can use a Feed reader like Feedly and search for your niche. Similarly, you can do a Google search for some of the topics within your niche and note down all the sites ranking on that keyword. Give a few hours finding out websites as you will find your potential clients from there.

Once you have made the list, open all those websites one by one. After opening a website scroll down to the footer section. Most websites have the link of their hiring page or contact page added there. Check out the hiring page of the visited website and see if they have any ongoing requirements for content writers. If they do have openings, fill out the job form.

While filling the form make sure you do not just send any past cover letter. Understand the requirement for the job position and then give some time to write a custom cover letter. It should include your experience so far in the industry and how you will be valuable for the site. Follow the same process for all the websites in your list and you will end up applying on most of them.

Some websites may not have a hiring page in their footer but then they should have a contact us page with their email or a contact form. Use them to reach the website owners. Keep the subject as Job Application and in the message box write a customized letter that you are looking for a content writing opportunity. If they have any requirements and your work experience matches with it you should receive a reply.

As per what I have experienced, reaching clients through their website hiring page or contact page is one of the best ways to make direct clients. It has worked wonders for me and I have worked with several Tech media brands and got offers from many of them. So, if you are not leveraging this medium to find clients then you are missing upon it. Give it a try and this will be one of the best channels for you to make direct clients.

That’s all in this post. In tomorrow’s post I will write about how you can use social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter or Facebook to find direct clients.

Thanks for reading. Have a great day!
