How a Freelancer Can Start a Services Business
This is how a freelancer can start a services business.
In yesterday’s post, I wrote about how some freelancers outsource their work and consider it a services business. The freelancers who follow this practice are those who can’t successfully start a legit services business.
Starting a services business is not that difficult, and in today’s post, I will write about how a freelancer can convert their freelancing into a services business or start a services business from scratch. Let’s start.
Suppose you are a freelancer, and you start getting tons of work that you can’t handle solely. If you are really interested in starting a services business, this is the time when you should start thinking about seriously.
It’s just your procrastination preventing you from taking a measure. You should make a solid decision and get towards your goal.
The first and most crucial step is deciding on a name for your business. When you are working as a freelancer, you can use your name, but for a services business, you will need a good brand name.
Do some research and come up with a brandable name. You should check if the domain name and social media handles are available for that name.
Initially, you don’t need a website, but you should create a LinkedIn company page for your business. Also, add your company to the experience section of your LinkedIn profile.
Next, create an announcement post talking about your new venture, your motive behind starting it, the exact services you will be providing. Once you have the post ready, share it on your social media, especially LinkedIn.
If you have been active on your socials and you have some good connections, chances are you will get some leads on the very first day of the announcement. Now you have successfully started your services business.
As you were working as a freelancer, your existing clients or new clients will reach out to you. When they do, let them know that you have started a services business and you have a solid team working with you.
Some clients who may be looking to work only with freelancers may say no to you, but there are tons of clients who like to work with agencies. You just have to wait for them.
As soon as you start your services business, you will need a team; that’s the reason you started this business. There is no better platform than LinkedIn to build your team. I have personally used LinkedIn to build my Yorker Media team.
Now you are all set; you have a services business in which you are getting clients and have a team to get the work done. However, some find it challenging to get clients or build a team.
No worries; In upcoming posts, I will write about building a team and finding clients for a services business, so stay tuned.
That’s all in this post.
Thanks for reading. Have a great day!
