How I Learned WordPress to Earn a 6 Figure Freelance Income

· 3 min read

This is how I learned monetizable skills that helped me earn a 6 figure income as a freelancer.

In yesterday’s post, I talked about how you can learn a skill. If you have read my previous posts about freelancing, you know whenever I decide to offer my services as a freelancer and take note of my skills.

These are the skills that I have: WordPress Development and Content Writing. Honestly, I can’t be good at everything, and I am pleased with these two skills that I have.

I thought some of you might be interested to know I learned both of these skills.

So starting today, I will write about how I learned WordPress and Content Writing. I expect it will be helpful for those interested in learning either of these skills. Let’s start with WordPress.

I had never heard of WordPress until June 2017. I only knew that one could build websites using programming. While I was researching for my YouTube channel, I came across Blogging.

When I started digging more into Blogging, I got to know about WordPress. I was surprised I could use it to build websites without coding.

I purchased my first domain in October 2017. Later, I also purchased web hosting from GoDaddy, and it allowed me to install WordPress on it. I started tinkering with various settings there.

I watched YouTube videos in one tab and made those changes on my website. It took me a couple of weeks to learn a few things, but somehow I did it. I built a very basic website for my YouTube channel Technical Ratnesh.

Initially, I was using free themes. Later, I saw various websites using a premium theme called Newspaper. It cost me about $59. Then, I started learning about this new theme and all its settings. I again watched several tutorial videos around the Newspaper theme on YouTube and designed my blog using the same theme.

My purpose in learning WordPress was to build a basic website for my YouTube channel, but I was unaware that it would help me build the website of TechYorker, my first Tech media business. Not just that later, I also used WordPress to build websites for hundreds of clients on Fiverr and make lakhs of rupees.

When I was starting, I knew that installing WordPress is only possible when you have a domain name and web hosting. But later, I learned that one could create WordPress websites locally.

So If you want to learn WordPress, it is even easier today. What you can do is use one of the platforms that allow installing a local WordPress on your computer and tinker with various settings. There are thousands of WordPress tutorials on the Internet. Watch it in one tab and implement it on your local website.

I assure you that within a month, you will have a sound knowledge of WordPress that you can use to get freelance clients. In the future, if you need a website for yourself, you can also use your skills to build one.

I hope you learned something valuable from today’s post. Thanks for reading. Have a great day ahead!
