How I Consume Content and Stay Updated With Tech
This is how I consume content and stay updated with Tech as a Tech Content Writer.
In yesterday’s post I discussed the strategy to consume content in your niche. As some of you know, I also said in the previous post that my niche as a content writer is Tech. Similarly, Tech is the niche for most of my readers. If you ask me how I consume content as a Tech writer, I have my unique strategy for it. I guess you guys may also be interested in knowing it so in today’s post I am going to write about how I consume Tech content and keep myself updated with Tech.
-
Unofficial Information: The latest developments in Technology start with unofficial information. By unofficial information, I meant all the leaks, rumors we got for future developments. There are leaksters in the industry who reveal these information. Some of them are OnLeaks, Evan Blass, Mukul Sharma, Ishan Agarwal, etc. These guys either tweet the information from their Twitter handle or partner with blogs to publish an Exclusive article. Sometimes journalists working with a particular publication also break out some unofficial information. So to stay updated with all of this I follow those leaksters on Twitter.
-
Official Information: Next I try to keep myself updated with official information. These information mostly comes from Tech companies and their management. To stay updated with Tech companies, I follow the Newsroom, Blog sites for all the major tech companies in the world. I have bookmarked those websites in my Browser and also added them to Feedly. Other than that I also follow those Tech companies on Twitter and other social media. Over the years I found that sometimes individuals working at a management level also announce some official information. So, I have followed the top officials of most Tech companies on Twitter.
Other than keeping myself updated with unofficial and official information, I try to consume all three formats of content Text, Video, Audio as I wrote yesterday.
-
Text: For text content I have created a list of 100+ technology websites. These include: The Verge, Digital Trends, CNET, Engadget, TechRadar, Tech Crunch, XDA-Developers, Android Authority, Android Central and many more. First I have bookmarked all those websites in my Browser. Additionally, I have added the top ones in Feedly. I have also segmented those tech sites based on their sub-niche within Tech such as Apple, Android, Windows, etc.
-
Video: For video content, I follow most of the major individual content creators, be it the favourite of all of us MKBHD, Mrwhosetheboss, Unbox Therapy, Jonathan Morrison, UrAvgConsumer, Jon Rettinger, and more. Among Indian Tech creators I follow, Gyan Therapy, Trakin Tech, Technology Guruji, Techno Ruhez, Geekyranjit, C4eTech, etc. I always keep looking for new channels who are creating good Tech videos. Not just individual Tech content creators but I also follow the YouTube channel of technology websites. Most Technology sites are also creating video content.
-
Audio: A few individual tech YouTubers have their Podcast like we have MKBHD’s Waveform podcast, Lew Later by Unbox Therapy. Similarly, a bunch of Technology websites also have their podcasts. Like The Verge have a couple of highly popular podcasts. So, I follow all these podcasts and listen to them in my free time.
So this is exactly how I stay updated with Technology. As I am doing Tech writing and Blogging most of my work time goes into consuming Tech content. When I am not writing you can find me consuming tech content in one of these ways. This exact strategy has worked for me for the last six years.
What do you think about it?
Thanks!
