In my yesterday’s post, I wrote about how you can get traffic on your blog. If you have followed my series of posts around Blogging and implemented everything I suggested by now, you should have a blog getting decent visitors.

Moving forward, the main purpose behind starting a blog is to make money from it. And I am sure after a certain point of time, everyone starting a blog would like to make money from it. So, in today’s post, I will explain how you can monetize your blog.

There are more than a dozen ways by which you can monetize your blog. But among all of them, below are the three most popular ways by which you can make money from your blog.

Advertising: The first and most popular way of making money from a blog is by running ads on it. You must have seen banner ads while visiting your favorite blogs. It works like this; you have a blog getting some visitors every day then you apply for an ad network like Google Adsense. The Adsense team manually reviews your site, and if your content is good, your site gets approved by them. After it, you can put ads on your blog, and they will start appearing to your visitors. Now depending on the number of daily visitors, the location of your visitors, and your niche, you will start making money from those ads. I gave the example of Google Adsense, but there are some other popular ad networks like Media.net, Ezoic, Mediavine, Raptive, etc.

Affiliate Marketing: After ads, the next way you can make money from your blog is through Affiliate Marketing. You must have heard about this term very often from bloggers and digital marketers. Affiliate Marketing basically means you promote the products of a company on your blog. When someone successfully makes a purchase from your links, the company offers a certain percentage of affiliate commission. The most popular affiliate program in the world right now is Amazon Associate. You can easily join Amazon Associate and start promoting millions of products listed on Amazon. Other than Amazon, most companies run their own affiliate program; you can check out their footer section for the affiliate page.

Sponsored Posts: Once your blog has grown to a certain level within your niche, businesses will approach you to promote their products and services on your blog. Now you, as a blogger, have built your platform, and why would you promote anyone without any benefit? So usually, these companies offer a decent amount of money for publishing a post talking about their product or services. You just need to publish the content they will provide and get paid for it. But one thing you should know is when your blog is relatively new many link sellers will reach out to you. They will ask you to publish an article on your site containing a do-follow link to their client or insert it in one of your existing articles. For that, they will offer anywhere between $10-100. Avoid falling for publishing any such article on your site. It will ruin your site rankings.
