The Mistake of Making Money Online After Getting Influenced
I made the mistake of making money online full-time after getting influenced by the Internet.
In the last several posts, I wrote about how I started as a Tech content creator, built a digital media business, and worked as a successful freelancer.
After 5-6 years of consistent effort, today, I have some level of success in building a sustainable income. But the truth is I decided to make money online by getting influenced.
In one of my initial posts, I wrote I started my Tech YouTube channel after watching a YouTube video of Mumbiker Nikhil. In one of his vlogs, he went to Dubai, where he showed huge buildings, luxury cars, and a lavish lifestyle.
As an 18-year-old, all that was exciting to me, and I also decided to become a YouTuber and live the same lifestyle.
I did the same; I stopped focusing on my studies and started a YouTube channel, thinking I was just a few videos away from Dubai. I made 100+ videos, but my channel didn’t even get monetized. Then I realized things are not as easy as they look.
I had already stopped studying, and there was no going back. So, I had no option other than to make a career out of it. I started hustling, learned different skills, and tried different options for almost six years. Now, I have been able to achieve some success. And guess what still? I am still away from going to Dubai.
Many of you may say that you are able to do whatever you have done because of that influence. But that’s not entirely true. I agree; it motivated me to get started in this industry; however, things may have gone wrong. And with no proper academic education, I may have had no career.
I also recently started creating content around the same niche. In my content, I show what I have achieved and all the good sides. But I wanted to write this post to let all of you know that please don’t get influenced by reading a post on LinkedIn or watching a video on YouTube and quit your studies and your current job to make money on the Internet.
Making money on the Internet is as hard and competitive as making money offline. You will still have to provide some sort of value, whether to an individual, business, or audience. Things are not as easy as all influencers have made it look from the outside. You will have to work hard and learn monetizable skills.
Once you have that, and if you want to work as a freelancer, you will have to find clients throughout the year. To become a content creator, you will have to create content for years to even think about success. If you want to start a blogging business, it will also take years to build something sustainable.
I don’t want to demotivate anyone that it is possible. All of this is doable, and many have successfully done it. But it takes time, effort, skills, and patience. Don’t just jump on the making money online bandwagon by getting influenced only to regret it later.
That’s what I wanted to share with all of you. What do you guys think about it?
